KELC bid farewell to German missionaries

15th April, 2011, Nairobi Kenya-Bishop Zachariah Kahuthu today bid farewell to German couple Mr. Christoph Knobelsdorff and Dr. (Mrs.) Renate Knobelsdorff after three months stay in Kenya. The couple engaged in several development activities and visited KELC parishes and mission areas as part of creating better understanding of community needs. “My stay in Kenya confirms that problems still exist” lamented Christoph.

Bishop thanked Mission Einewelt for sending Mr. and Mrs Knobelsdorff. He added that the church is one and only difference is environment it serves. “We are united because we allow God to lead our path. We are called upon to make disciples and God performs His miracles” said Bishop Kahuthu. He went further to ask them to be KELC ambassadors and reminded them to advocate through their experience in Kenya.

“Your visit to Kenya is engraved in KELC history” said Bishop as he wished the couple well. KELC deputy Secretary General Rev. Luke Mwololo in his message thanked the couple for initiating a water project in Kisimanyi, Voi where they purchased a 10,000 liter water tank intended to harvest water and ensure sustainability of water resource among the community.

During their stay, the couple made a visit to Pokot and educated on the harmful effects of Female Genital Cut commonly practiced by the pastoral community. Prior to that they participated in a climate change adaptation workshop and strongly recommended establishment of response to the effects of climate change in Kenya.

Mr. and Mrs. Knobelsdorff were seconded by Mission Einewelt for three months work with KELC as senior experts on development issues. Mission Einewelt is member of the KELC round-table Joint Mission Committee for Kenya (JMCK) that hosts partners annually to deliberate on development issues.
